DSPARACDE DISPLAY AREA CODE TAAPHNA |
The Display Area Code command provides a casual display of area codes
in the US and Canada. This is useful for:
** When you have an area code to call, but want to know the
state.
** When you need to know the time zone associated with the area
code.
** When you need to know the area codes being used in a state.
A typical command would be:
DSPARACDE
and you would then use the 'position to' or 'state select' fields or
DSPARACDE ARACDE(507)
to display where area code 507 is and the major cities in the area
code.
The tool will be periodically updated. To add or change and entry,
see the later section on modifying the data.
Command parameters *CMD
------------------
ARACDE The area code to be displayed. The default is *ALL
to display all the area codes. Selection may also
occur from the display.
STATE The State or Province to be selected. The standard
two character codes are used for the state or
province. The default is *ALL to display all the
states. Selection may also occur from the display.
Modifying the data
------------------
If you want to modify the data that is displayed (such as add a city
or a new area code), you may modify the source for the TAAPHNBR RPG
program and re-create the tool. The data seen on the display is kept
in an array with the PRTARACDE tool. The array is passed to
DSPARACDE.
Note that the tool will be replaced on the next release. This will
include new known area codes, but you may want to save your changes
in a a library other than TAATOOL. You may also want to indicate
what records you have changed or added in the location description.
